Safeguarding

Everyone who participates in sport has the right to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment.

Safeguarding Ethos

We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for children, young people and adults to enjoy the sport of climbing.  We operate a zero tolerance approach to any harm, exploitation or abuse of anyone using our centres, including our staff and stakeholders.  Safeguarding forms an intrinsic part of everything that we do.  If you become aware of anything that makes you concerned, you should raise it.  We will support anyone who, in good faith, reports any concern that a child, young person or adult is at risk of, or may actually be, being abused.

If you have any concerns, please contact our Safeguarding Team on 01392 426 850 or email safeguarding@quayclimbingcentre.co.uk

How We Safeguard Children and Young People

We recognise that the welfare and interests of children and young people are paramount in all circumstances.  All employees, volunteers and participants are expected to understand our duty of care to young people and abide by the guidance laid out in our policy, procedures and codes of practice.

How We Safeguard Adults at Risk

We acknowledge our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of adults at risk of abuse, who may be unable to protect themselves from potential harms involved in activities undertaken.  We believe that all adults, regardless of age, ability or disability, gender, race religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, marital or gender status have the right to be protected from abuse and poor practice and should be free to participate in sport in an enjoyable and safe manner.   All employees, coaches, volunteers and participants are expected to  ensure that their practice, conduct and decision making reflects the principles enshrined in our policy and procedures.

How We Tackle Bullying

Bullying is not tolerated within our organisation.  Our Anti Bullying Policy sets out what we will do to tackle bullying and how we support anyone who is the victim of bullying.

Recruiting the Right People

Our Safer Recruitment policy exists to help deter, reject or identify people who might be unsuitable to work with children, young people or adults at risk. Recruitment to positions working with these groups, for example coaching, will include appropriate DBS checks in line this policy. We value diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.  Our selection process is based upon individual merits and abilities, irrespective of a person’s gender, sexual orientation, caring responsibilities, marital status, race, nationality, ethnic background, religion or belief, age or disability.

Our Approach to Filming and Photography

Our commitment to keeping all participants safe whilst in our care is our highest priority. Photos and videos celebrate achievements, are a valuable coaching aid and are a great way to promote our organisation.  We also recognise that our customers wish to capture their climbing experiences and achievements.  However, they must be created and used responsibly and with respect for the privacy and safety of our participants.

Our Filming and Photography Policy explains our approach and guidance for the appropriate use of photography and filming in our centres, and our expectations for all participants, coaches, staff, volunteers, parents, carers and spectators.
